Non-Destructive Testing.
As part of the COVE-WENDT Project, the National Welding Competition in Spain brought together emerging talent and experienced professionals to showcase the high level of skill and dedication in the welding sector.
The event highlighted the importance of vocational education, lifelong learning, and the transfer of knowledge between
generations. Among the standout participants were Vicente, a dedicated vocational student, and Rafael, an experienced professional
welder.
For Vicente, the competition was a milestone in his training journey:
“I wanted to challenge myself and show that vocational training can also lead to excellence,” he shared.
Inspired by his instructor and supported by his classmates, Vicente approached welding not only as a technical skill,
but as a field where creativity, precision and perseverance are essential. One of his most meaningful moments came
when the judges congratulated him on the quality of his welds — a recognition that reinforced the value of months of
preparation and dedication.
Meanwhile, Rafael, with years of professional experience, saw the competition as an opportunity to continue
learning and share his passion for craftsmanship:
“We never stop learning. Welding is a craft where skill, patience, and pride come together,” he explained.
During the event, Rafael not only demonstrated technical excellence but also inspired younger participants,
encouraging them to value discipline, teamwork, and confidence. His attitude showed how experienced welders play a
vital role in mentoring and motivating the next generation of skilled workers.
Both participants share the belief that competitions like this contribute to changing the public perception of
welding. Far from being only a manual trade, welding today plays a strategic role in modern industry, from renewable
energy and sustainable construction to advanced manufacturing.
Their message is clear:
• Welding is a profession with global opportunities.
• Learning never stops — at any stage of a career.
• Confidence, curiosity, and pride in one’s work make the difference.
The COVE-WENDT partnership congratulates all participants and thanks the instructors, mentors,
and training centres involved. Their contribution strengthens the development of high-quality
vocational excellence in welding and non-destructive testing across Europe.
The demand for digital education and the transition to green industry are increasing. Training centres need to adapt to this trend.
